Graduation!

That's it, I have graduated.  I am officially no longer a student.  Last Wednesday I headed down to the cathedral for the graduation ceremony with my family feeling excited and slightly nervous.  It was strange seeing everyone from my course again, but this time in gowns and hats... which I loved wearing and did not want to take off.  It was a nice day, although a shame about the weather as it started off freezing, then heavily rained, snowed, hailed, the sun came out for a second, then it heavily rained again.  Alas, I did not get any nice photos outside the cathedral which was annoying, but it was a good day nonetheless.

Had just picked up the gown and hat.
Outside the cathedral.

Collecting my certificate.
A much needed glass of wine afterwards!

It was a good day!

August Already?

July was such a busy month for me and it whirled by.  From job hunting, to job offers, to accepting a job, moving house and turning 23, so much happened and I hardly had time to post! So I did a little round up of pictures to sum up the last month.

1. Finally bought a new phone.  2. Spent a bit too much money. 3. Packed to leave uni and move.  So much stuff!
4. Lots of sunbathing! 5. Many countryside walks. 6. My new room.
7. New job! My uniform. 8. Goodbye uni room. 9. I will miss those wardrobes!

Two weeks ago I moved into my new flat and started my new job which is going awesome so far.   Yesterday I moved my final items out of my house at university and handed my keys back.  I felt really sad, and then I didn't feel like a student anymore.  I now have internet in my flat so more pictures of that and regular posting to continue!

Make The Most Of University

After finishing university about two months ago, I did not quite believe that I had completed four years of my degree and it was finished forever.  It did not sink in for such a long time but with the starting date of my job looming closer and closer (eek it's tomorrow) it now seems very real.  My time at university has had it's ups and downs but it's been such a blast and I would definitely do it all over again!

Here are my six tips for making the most of university:

One.
Join clubs and societies.  It gives you a chance to do something you have never done before, or you can join in with an activity you have always wanted to do.  It also gives you a chance to meet new people, it's fun and you may discover an activity you really love.  I only really got involved with things in my last year and really wish I had got involved much sooner from day one!

Two.
Explore the place you live in.  Again, I did not make the most of this opportunity for a very long time. But when I did start looking around it was great to explore new towns, big cities and little villages.  Especially if you are at a university in a small town you can start to feel very trapped if you don't get out and about.  It stops any boredom and you can make new friends if you ask people at university to join you.

Three.
Get out there and make friends.  It seems like an obvious one but introducing yourself to random people can be a bit daunting.  I remember on the first week I met so many people.  I ended up going on nights out with random people I had just met, to house parties and socialising with so many people in my block of flats.  I didn't talk to many of those people after the first few months, but the more you get out there, the more likely you are to make friends.

Four.
Study.  Again another obvious one.  But don't make the same mistake I did and not study in your first year then end up failing.  I feel like such a loser for this mistake but learnt from this and got much higher grades in my other years.  Don't leave everything until the last minute, plan ahead and know what is expected of you.

Five.
Prepare for your future career.  I know so many people that have finished university in the last two years who still do not know what to do with their lives.  They are in jobs that they hate, or even worse, don't have a job at all.  Before starting and leaving university I have researched different careers, done lots of work experience and been to various careers fair.  The future seems so far away and it seems like a lot of effort to do, but it does all pay off.

Six.
Go on nights out.  Get socialising.  Or not necessarily on nights out if that isn't your sort of thing.  Any sort of event.  Organise things, attend events and gatherings.  This is the way you will make good friends, so any time you are bored you will be able to call up a mate instead watching the next cat video on Youtube.

So to round it up, HAVE FUN but study as well :D

I am moving to my new flat later on today where I will not have any internet.  Who knows how long it will be until I get internet set up! So it may be another long silence from me.  Meanwhile you can follow me on instagram.

Do you have any university tips to share, or will you be going to university this year?

I PASSED!!

Yesterday I discovered my exam results... and it turns out I passed!!  With some firsts in there I was quite proud of my results, shame they weren't all firsts.  But nevertheless, I passed university! I am now officially a qualified radiographer.

As soon as I found out my results I phoned my Mum who was super happy and bought me some gifts.  Then I went to the pub and celebrated.

I have never felt so relieved in my life!!

I DID IT!!

Now I just need to ace my upcoming interviews and get a job.

Good luck to everyone else awaiting results!

Back To University!

Yesterday I packed my cases (I had accumulated far too much over the last few weeks), loaded the car and headed back to university. I wasn't looking forward to coming back, I was quite comfy at my parents house and would have quite happily stayed for another few weeks. However I had classes today so had to come back.

As I had not seen everyone in a few weeks I wanted to look nice. I'm not quite sure why, my housemates have seen me make-up less, wearing pajamas and generally looking like a tramp but nevertheless, I felt like wearing nice clothes.  Here's what I wore (with a lovely view of half of my university room):

Blouse: Republic
Black vest top: Primark
Shorts: River Island
Belt: Primark
Leggings: Primark
Shoes: Schuh

I also had a haircut yesterday!

I think this may be the first full picture of my face on this blog.
I need to learn to smile in self-taken pictures!

Not exactly a lot of difference but I'm trying to grow my hair!

Hope you all have a good week :)

Looking Like A Million Dollars... Not So Much

Do you ever have those days when you think you look really good?  Your make-up looks nice, your hair looks awesome and your outfit is great.  Then you get home and take pictures of yourself for your blog and realise that actually, you really don't look that good after all.  Today is one of those days for me.  However, on the upside at least I walked around acting really confident all day because I thought I looked amazing.

Today at university was a nice day.  I got to meet a few new people that I got on well with which was great.  I love meeting new people!

Blazer:  New Look
X-Ray T-Shirt:  Urban Outfitters
Grey T-Shirt (underneath):  Primark
Jeans:  River Island
Old, skanky boots are from Barratts.
I am always unsure what to pair this blazer with and have regretted buying it since someone told me it made me look like a teacher.  But I was in a dark/navy kind of mood.

My new laptop arrived today at my parents house.  I cannot wait to get over there to pick it up and check it out!  Very excited right now!  (Over a laptop... is that sad?)

Manicure

Next week I am starting placement for 6 weeks, which means short nails and no nail varnish, so I thought I would give myself a manicure.  I always like to do this when my nails have grown to a decent length.

Firstly I applied Nivea's Calcium Power in Soft Rose.  This nail varnish claims to strengthen nails and gives my nails a lovely light pink colour.  I used one coat of this.  The white colour was from a gift set someone bought me from Debenhams.  I started off by covering the natural white bit on my nail, then if my hand slips or I make a mistake I have room to make that white bit a touch thicker without looking silly.  I applied two coats of this.  After this had dried I gave it two coats of Lasting Colour by Collection 2000 as a top coat.  The clear Lasting Colour varnish claims to last 10 days so I am going to see if it lasts!

What I wore today to university:  Summer colours for a rainy day.  Yes, it was raining today and I didn't realise resulting in muddy shoes, wet clothes and frizzy hair.  Even though it is quite obvious summer is now over I am still loving this mint green colour so won't stop wearing it just yet!

Top:  Vero Moda
Blazer:  Krisp
Jeans:  River Island
Shoes:  Primark

At the moment I'm in my own little world of university where I don't have to wake up that early, can have naps in the middle of the day, can watch television or films in the day and do my own thing when I don't have lectures, can stay in my pyjamas all day when I don't need to go out, can go shopping in the middle of the day, have time to do my essays and work, can hang out with housemates whenever I want and can go to bed at whatever time I want.  Like I mentioned earlier I have placement next week so will soon snap out of this.  But at the moment I am quite content in my own university bubble.

Back To School Outfit

Dissertation.  That one, big, scary word that all university students dread.  Or at least, I did.  But now that time is upon me where I have to write ten thousand words about a subject that interests me.  I can see my work is cut out for me for the next six months while I complete my final year of university.  I can see that it's going to be tough and I am going to have to study hard to get the marks I want, but it's the final stretch of being a student and I am quite excited.

It was back to university for me yesterday.  I have never been keen on sitting in a lecture room for hours having someone talk at me while I concentrate on not falling asleep.  But it was good to be back.  As my course requires me to do weeks of placement, then weeks of university, I spend those weeks of placement wearing a uniform and very little make-up.  But when I am back to university I can wear whatever I want and put on more make-up which I love.

I never like dressing up too much for university, I don't understand why someone would want to wear heels and clothes that make them look like they are on a night out, but then I don't like looking like I've just woken up either.  So I wore a simple outfit:  Clothes from my wardrobe which I am sure you have all seen before.  I think these are my favourite pair of jeans.

I'm feeling quite positive about life at the moment :)
